Dr. Demetris A. Green, Sr.

This month’s physician profile features Demetris A. Green, Sr. MD. He is a General Practitioner who has a private solo practice in the southwest area of Houston near Reliant Stadium. As a primary care physician, Dr. Green practices on the premise that the best medical care is preventive care. His area of interest includes cardiometabolic disorders such as Diabetes Mellitus, high cholesterol, Hypertension, and Obesity. He started his journey into the field on medicine by attending the local Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions where he graduated in 1984. He did his undergraduate studies at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1988. While attending Morehouse, Dr. Green was a member of the Health Careers Society. He also earned a Phi Beta Kappa Key during his junior year.  

In 1992, Dr. Green received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He went on to complete his internship and part of his Internal Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals in Houston, Texas. His decision to become a General Practioner comes from his interest in primary care and the greater need. With the rising population along with a longer average life span, the prevalence of chronic medical illnesses such as heart, lung, and kidney disease as well as cancer has increased.

Community service has been a vital interest to Dr. Green. He is presently serving as the parliamentarian of the Houston Medical Forum for which he has been a member since 2007. He also serves as the chairman of the website committee on which this profile is posted. Dr. Green is an active and life member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. He is currently in the local Rho Beta Beta Chapter. He is single and the father of two sons, Demetris Jr. age 18 and Demarcus age 16. He is a fitness advocate and enjoys running and weight lifting. He also enjoys traveling and jazz music. World events along with national and global politics are of special interest to Dr. Green. He feels that having an awareness of social interactions and problems gives him a better perspective with regard to patient care.
